WET DRYWALL: how to solve the problem?
In the event that, for any reason, a plasterboard wall suffers water damage (seepage or leakage), the first thing to do is contact a specialized company that can intervene with appropriate equipment and resolve the problem permanently .
But in case we wanted to try to "buffer" the self-made situation, below we list the actions to be taken:
1. Verify effectively that the damage is of medium / small proportions;
2. Make sure there are no fiber or wool mats in the back of the plasterboard as these elements hold water for a long time, releasing it a little at a time and it would be impossible to fix the damage yourself;
3. Place a hot-air dryer in front of the wall;
4. If you do not have it available, rent or purchase a dehumidifier and put it into operation;
5. Keep the room ventilated;
6. Check after 24h if the situation has improved.
ATTENTION: as this type of intervention is very delicate, the advice is to contact a highly specialized company that can help you.
