Door subframe to be installed in plasterboard walls

The new dry construction uses more and more the plasterboard structures in such a way as to have the possibility to create articulate compositions and simpler structurally: partition walls, false ceilings, niches and cuts for the insertion of LED light systems.

The plasterboard walls generally require sliding or hinged doors flush with the wall, consequently they have had to study and consequently produce a counterframe or false frame system suitable for this material and different structurally from those for walls made with perforated elements.

The subframe is a metal structure composed of a box inside the wall, a sliding system, called track, to slide the door, a vertical battant that receives the door in closing.

The subframe aligns with metal frames, U-shaped guides and C-shaped posts to support plasterboard sheets.

The counterframe for retractable doors plasterboard version adapts to dry systems structures, thanks to the transversal plate fixing profiles, it is easy to maneuver and fix to all types of warping; moreover, the fixing of the screws is facilitated by the ties.

The inner seat of the subframe measures 5.8 cm and presents 0.4 cm more than other models common on the market (those for plastering), in such a way as to have more space at the door and therefore avoid that it can crawl on the frame metallic and consequently get damaged.

The subframe for plasterboard can be given in 2 versions:

1. A KIT, easy to transport due to the limited size, faster to assemble now thanks to the interlocking system, more versatile since it is possible to enlarge the frame during installation: from 10 to 12.5 cm finished wall. In this case the door flows with fluidity and the extractable aluminum sliding track makes maintenance easier.

2. Already assembled and for swing doors in the standard sizes 60/70/80 / 90x210 with the 3 parts, the structure, the track and the trolley previously mounted and then ready to be installed.

A counterframe to KIT for plasterboard for retractable doors, how should it be mounted?

First of all you must read the elements contained in the kit, place them on the ground, read the instruction manual (that each company provides), start resting on two supports, arranged in parallel, the rear profile and the assembled front uprights.

After that, we proceed to the interlocking arrangement of the crosspieces on both sides, using polystyrene blocks to avoid the bending of the metal members, hooking the upper profile with six screws.

It is necessary to insert the extractable track and the other vertical profile, a series of spacers to be removed when inserting the frame and door, the anchoring brackets to the floor.

Having done this, the newly assembled subframe must be anchored to the structure of guides and crosspieces for the application of the plasterboard sheets, making sure that the fixing does not compromise the extraction of the track.

The hinged doors inserted in plasterboard walls are usually of the wall type and can be painted with the same shade of the counter-wall.

It is a single frame provided with 2.5 cm thick wooden spacers pre-assembled to guarantee the perfect squaring of the frame, protective plastic sheets to prevent them from getting dirty or scratching on the construction site, hinges to protect the hinges from the plaster, seals to be applied on the frame and not on the door, very stable, easy to install.

Execution of the work

To install a sliding door in plasterboard it is mandatory that the floor is finished, so as not to risk making mistakes with the measurements. In general, the casket is sold together with the sliding door that contains it and must be assembled following the instructions in the instruction booklet. At this point, place the casket in the center of the wall and attach it to the metal supports present: the work must be perfectly plumb, then checks with a level as you proceed with the installation. Otherwise the sliding door in plasterboard may not open well. Now cover the casket with plasterboard panels and install the door in the rails and then insert the blocks in order to keep it in place. Finally, the cover is mounted around the frame. Finally, the metal part is covered with a sheet of plasterboard that is fixed with 19 mm screws. It is stuccoed, sanded and finally the whole plasterboard wall is painted.
