PLASTER TILES: fantasy at the command

Gypsum plasterboard is today the material of excellence in modern construction. Dynamic, practical and economical, it allows to be used in many ways and to find restructuring solutions once unthinkable.

Undoubtedly another feature that made the plasterboard the leader of the materials used in the construction industry is the perfect compatibility with the other decorative elements including the tiles.

We see in this article how to tile directly on plasterboard.

Procedure in 10 moves:

1. Use a brush or a damp cloth to clean the plasterboard and create a tile placement pattern.

2. Now apply a fixative on the slab to obtain a greater grip of the skim coat and wait for it to dry. Spread now, homogeneously, checking with a bubble level the linearity of the wall, the skim coat.

3. Drown a fresh fiberglass mesh in the freshly applied fresh finish.

4. Now spread the surface of the wall, the elastic and water-repellent adhesive with a bubble level, over the fiberglass mesh.

5. Take the tiles and place the first one starting from the bottom.

6. Press firmly on the adhesive but without excessive force to prevent the glue from moving.

7. Place some pvc cross spacers in the corner of the tile just positioned to indicate the correct size of the joint to be made between the tiles.

8. Perform the same operations on the whole planned surface.

9. When applying pressure to the tiles, remove any glue that leaks from the joints and that is excess.

10. Once the installation is completed wait about three hours and then apply (with a specific gun), only on the joints, a special transparent acetic sealant to prevent water infiltration and to accommodate the dimensional movements of the tile roof.
