How to cut plasterboard

As already specified, the plasterboard slab is composed of a "sandwich" having a central part of plaster and surrounded on both sides by a special adherent paper.

Cutting a plasterboard plate is extremely simple.

The operation is composed of three easy steps (simplified in jargon "cutting-breaking-cutting") of the layers forming the plasterboard sheet.

Here are the details of the operation:

• Measure the size of the area where the plasterboard plate will be installed;

• Trace the cutting line on the slab indicating the reference points;

• Place a row on the slab aligning it to the reference points;

• Try to cut only the first layer of paper, without penetrating too deeply into the plasterboard;

• Striking the newly cut part firmly until the plasterboard slab breaks;

• Now turn the smaller part until it forms an angle of 90 ° and then proceed to cut the remaining paper that still holds the parts of the plate together;

• In this way a sheet of plasterboard of the pre-established size will be obtained.

Suggestions from Tuttocartongesso:

• Check the measurements to be cut at least twice;

• Pay attention to the cutting of the slab and then to the side to be pressed;

• Performing all the above operations at least in two people facilitates the work and lowers the risk of errors and accidents;

• Possibly use a 25 'cutter or a special hacksaw to speed up and improve the cut.
