How to cut fiber cement slabs

Although the fiber cement slabs are more resistant and have better performance than those in plasterboard, the cut is made with common cutters as for any slab.

The cutting-breaking-cutting mechanism of the three layers of material making up the plasterboard slab for outdoor use is extremely simple:

• Measure the size of the area where the fiber cement slab will be installed;

• Trace the cutting line on the slab indicating the reference points;

• place a row on the slab aligning it to the reference points;

• Using any cutter, make the first cut, particularly scratching the fiberglass mesh making sure to cut the entire length of the cut to be made;

• Striking the newly cut part firmly until it breaks;

• Now turn the smaller part until it forms an angle of 90 ° and then proceed to cut the remaining mesh that still holds the parts of the plate together;

• In this way you will obtain a sheet of fiber cement slab of the predetermined size.

Tips:

• Check the measurements to be cut at least twice;

• Pay attention to the cutting of the slab and then to the side to be pressed;

• Performing all the above operations at least in two people facilitates the work and lowers the risk of errors and accidents;

• Possibly use a 25 'cutter or a special hacksaw to speed up and improve the cut.
